The white paper is an improvement on what was available 24 months or so ago. Back then even the SN consultants on site couldn't explain how to best set-up the service hierarchy, but the white paper mentions use cases to come and finding real -world examples of how the CSDM can be implemented still seems to be missing and I think this could help explain the concepts to a lot of people.
Is anyone aware of any resources that explain the theory via real-world examples (use cases)?

You should check out the new CSDM fundamentals course available on the Now Learning portal. There are several use case PDF's that you can download that give specific examples.
thanks,

Additionally the use cases are also available in the Orlando documentation for CSDM:

Thanks Daniel & Casper
I did the portal course yesterday and looked at Orlando docs as well.
What I am looking for to help me understand the theory are some real world examples or even a fictional company example to help me work through.
The whitepaper has helped (or improved a confused element of SN), but i think what a lot of people are missing (judging form the community) is a working example (or two) of what this looks like in a real world situation.
The CSDM delivery is too flexible and left up to the client to decide how best to implement and ultimately this is confusing (well at least for some)....Maybe I am just being stupid or haven't read through carefully enough, but translating the whiter paper into a real world scenario still isn't clear enough for me.
