Hello ServiceNow Community 👋,
I am exploring opportunities to build and grow my career in ServiceNow. I’m interested in understanding:
How to join ServiceNow-related job roles what skills and certifications are most valued?
Which areas in ServiceNow (like ITSM, ITOM, ATF, Flow Designer, Virtual Agent, etc.) are in high demand.
Suggestions on free resources, communities, or projects where I can practice and improve my hands-on skills.
Any guidance from professionals who are already working in ServiceNow on career path and roadmap.
I am passionate about learning ServiceNow deeply and contributing to real-world implementations .
Any advice, shared experiences, or mentorship would be highly appreciated
Thank you!

Hi @ashutosh2825 ,
Welcoem to Servicenow Community and Ecosystem. Its great that you want to start your career in this technology.
Skills:-
1) You should understand what is ITIL, ITSM and then core platform features of servicenow.
2) All amdin features, you should be aware of.
3) Based on your job role you need to learn Scripting/ development (if you want to be a developer), Functional aspects and processes (if you want to be a functional concultant, Business Ananlyst, Business process Consultant (BA/ BPC - Incident Manager, Problem Manager, Change Manager, Knowledge Manager, Catalog Manager etc )).
Certification:-
1) CSA- Certified System Administrator( it is expected from everyone in Servicenow ecosystem)
2) CAD - Certified application developer (If you want to become a developer)
3) CIS - ITSM (If you want to be an expert or Implementor of ITSM processes)
Other CIS certification (Certified Implementor) based on the Module you are in.
Modules:-
All the modules are in demand but ITSM is the core and starting point and then you can learn other modules like- HRSD, CSM. ITOM, ITAM etc. It will depend on your interest and your expertise as well. Once you will move in Servicenow ecosystem, you need to see which is your cup of tea.
Free Resources:-
1) developer.servicenow.com to create your PDI (Personal developer instance for practice)
2) developer.servicenow.com -> Learn to learn about the servicenow.
3) Servicenow University to learn many modules and earn Micro and Mainline certifications.
4) Servicenow Community - You can read questions and answer from differen people to learn. You can also ask anything here if you are stuck.
5) There are multiple Channels to start with:-
a- LearnandGrowwithAtulG - from ATul Grover
b- LearnwithRavi - from Ravi Gaurav
c- BasicoServicenow
d- SAASWithservcienow etc
Career Path:-
First Create a PDI to practice. Create your account on Servicenow University and start with Welcome to Servicenow Course. Then Welcome to ServiceNow Micro certification (it is free). Then go for - Servicenow Admin fundamentals Training. If you are a discplined guy and can do self study consistently then you can go with these but if you are not cosnsistent, disciplined or not intesreted in self study, then my advice will be to attend a proper training. Being a Trainer can help you, guide you, if you want.
Once youare done with all these and you have some handson on PDI then you can go for CSA certification. Once done decide on which module you want to focus (whatever is your cup of tea) and then move in that direction.
I hope i have clarified many things for you. If still you have any question you can ask me or in community.
If my answer helped you, please mark it- solution accepted.

Nikhil Bajaj
