New campus not showing in list

I added a new campus. When adding a new incident I click on the far right magnifying glass icon in the snippet below:
it is supposed to come up with a list of campuses. The new campus does not show up in the list but if you type the new campus name in the box shown in this note then it is accepted by the system and the associated room numbers can be selected. Yesterday the new campus had a location type of Campus added to it and then the new campus showed up in the list mentioned here in this note. Today I added a Parent name which was the same name as the campus and the system accepted this but now the new campus does not show up in the list. I went back and removed the parent and the new campus shows up in the list. Other campuses have a parent shown in their records and they show up in the list. What do I need to do to set this up correctly? How is a parent created and what must be done before it can be used?

Hi @ppicazo1,
it seems to be a reference qualifier. Is this a variable on a portal form or native UI form (backend)?
Either one check the reference qualifiers.

@ppicazo1 for backend - go to that field and click right mouse button on the field label and select Configure dictionary:
