Seeking Feedback on My ServiceNow Learning Plan for a Solution Consultant Role

Hi everyone,

Would love your feedback. I’m new to ServiceNow and working toward building the skills needed for an Advisory Solution Consultant role in the financial services industry. My goal is to build a strong foundation in ServiceNow and cloud solutions to make myself a more competitive candidate. I have a background in Banking, having worked at Bank of America in Product & Strategy, and in management consulting at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where I helped financial services clients with transformation initiatives.

Here’s the learning path I’ve mapped out:

Get to Know ServiceNow – To build a foundational understanding.
ServiceNow Administrator Fundamentals – To gain deeper insight into platform configuration and workflows.
New to ServiceNow – For hands-on practice and deeper technical skills.
AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials – To understand cloud infrastructure and how ServiceNow integrates with cloud platforms.
Certified System Administrator (CSA) – As my first certification goal.

I’d love to hear any advice or feedback:

Am I on the right track with this plan?
Are there any specific resources or strategies you recommend?
What helped you the most when starting out with ServiceNow?
Thank you in advance for any insights!

Gloria

Hi @GloriaN ,

What there is most important and which you might are missing in your learning plan, is real work in the real world - not online training session. Off course the training will give you basic understanding, but real work is what really give you insights.

If my answer has helped with your question, please mark my answer as the accepted solution and give a thumbs up.

Hi @GloriaN ,

To come with an advise, I would recommend you to take the fundamentals training e.g. the CSA, get a Personal developer instance to play around with and follow the community. Try to answer the questions to your best ability, as this can give experience. Otherwise, you look for job opportunities in your area for both ServiceNow and Service Management related.

Thank you so much for answering my question. Do you have any advice on where I can get real work experience? I joined some ServiceNow LinkedIn communities and saw some people advertising real problems to work on, is that an example of a good way to get real work experience?
