Overview:
Configurable Portal Widgets (CPW) are a library of widgets available for Customer Service Management and CRM portals that enable business analysts to configurable widgets for a faster time to market with a low code/no code solution.
These widgets eliminate the need to clone and customize widgets to make changes.
Key persona:
Business Analyst or administrator configure the widgets
Customers interact with the widgets on Customer Portals
Business Value:
- Faster time to value – Business Analysts or admin can leverage a central library of common widgets
- for customer portals
- Lower cost to implement – Business Analysts or admin can configure most changes and eliminate the need to customize
- Easier upgrade effort – Business Analysts, or admin or implementors have little or no customizations to the new widgets, so the update process is simpler.
Configurable Portal Widgets:

| Portal Banner Carousel Widget | Display multiple announcements, features, or product images as a carousel in the banner |
| Portal Browse Taxonomy Widget | Display a hierarchical taxonomy of topics to allow navigation to different Knowledge articles and Catalog items |
| Portal Case Cards Widget | Display the latest updates on open cases with respect to a user or account |
| Portal Catalog Quick Links Widget | Display relevant Service Catalog items based on filter criteria |
| Portal Data List Widget | Display a list of cases, orders, appointments or any other record from a ServiceNow table in list and card format along with the capability to search and filter content |

| Portal Footer Widget (usually with a theme name e.g. Portal Polaris Footer) | Display information at the bottom of each page this could include information about the organization, site links, external links, social media links and more. |

| Portal Taxonomy Topic Widget | Display topics from content taxonomy as cards. Enable users to access both knowledge article and catalog items related to a topic. |
Tips to Configure Branding, Themes and Images:
Images
There are multiple ways to add images either using:
- Use the Service Portal Configuration-> Branding Configuration editor
- Add a new image - Remember when updating any images use the below recommendations
- Banner widget (recommend size 1600 x 800 pixels)
- Portal Logo for organization (recommended size 40 x 40 pixels)
- VA Logo (recommended size 50 x 50 pixels)
Plugin:
Install and/or Activate the UI Components for Customer Portals plugin (sn_ciwf_ui_cmpnt) to enable Configurable Portal widgets
