Another Install base item question

I'm sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere. I have searched the forum, but have not been able to find a definitive answer and I think the guidance from ServiceNow is lacking in this area.

Scenario:

My organization is selling a product to its customers. No customer specific infrastructure is provisioned to deliver the service/product. All customers are using the same infrastructure and application. Do I need to define install base items for my accounts that are purchasing the product?

I have defined the product model, the sold product, my service offerings, business service and business application to tie things into the itsm/csdm world. All looks good. But do I need to have the install base items for this as well? It seems redundant.

Looking at the csm/csdm example for a multi tenant architecture it is a bit inconclusive, as one customer has an install base and the other has not 🙂

Best regards,

Kasper

I'm also interested if anyone has a strong opinion on that.
