How can I show companies subscribed to a service offering in the CMDB dependency view

Hi,

I'm trying to create a service model based on CSDM.

I have created a business service, attached a few different service offerings to this business service and then linked different accounts to the service offerings using the "subscribed by companies" table.

I'm trying to see the relationships between accounts, offerings and business service in the dependency view.

OOTB when I open the dependency view of the business service - it shows me the service offerings

when I open the service offering dependency view it does not show me the service. I have tried to create a new record with "map related items" to show the other direction but this is not working for me

I was also trying to create a similar record to show the relationship between "service subscribed by" the the service offering in order to display this in the dependency view as well.

Initially I could nt even select that table since there is an attribute that only allows CMDB tables to be selected. so I tried to remove the attribute and then I was able to create a mapping between the 2 tables. but once this is active if I try to launch the dependency map I get an error message that the view cannot be displayed.

Any ideas are very welcome

Hi,

General hint about dependency maps
The dependency map shows only relationship between elements of the CMDB. The company table is not stored inside of the CMDB, because of that you will not be able to see it in the dependency view. I would also recommend to remove the customizing you did to avoid errors.

Subscription by companies visible in the dependency map:
An alternative Solution would be to create a map indicator. Over an icon in the map you could see, that the offering has a company subscription and over the details you could see it.

A fast build example looks like this:

Service --> Service Offering
To display the relationship between Service Offering and Service, when the offering is selected, you would need to create a relationship between them. Unfortunately there is no OOTB solution to display child<--Parent field dependencies. Please be aware, that in case you do this, the service will be added as affect service in a change.

I added the Map Related Items record manually in previous versions but I note in Utah it is OOTB now.

The outcome: the demo data in my PDI shows the following for a business service.

This doesn't mean it shows up a related item on the CI, only for the map.

How has your journey been since you originally posted the question?

Hey @mcconnellsj,
Right now I didn't had a chance to look into the Utah release. But based on your screenshot you are looking into the parent "service" dependency view. From the parent view the relationship will work OOTB in all releases I know. The issue is, when you open the child "service offering", that the relationship wasn't visible.

Short reminder: I didn't check this on Utah, so it could be that it was changed.

I hope that answer helps you.

I'm also in the same situation here. I added a few companies to the subscribed by company and I can't see it in dependency view...moreover, I would like to have this shown in incident tickets when a service offering is associate to an incident then imapcted accounts show up. Have you explored this option at all?
