Accessibility Enabled Toggle Button - What exactly does it do in ServiceNow?

Hello,

Other than enabling the screen reader function by activating the "Accessibility Enabled" toggle button.  Without activating the other toggle buttons, are there any other features that are also activated that are easily detectable and easy to demonstrate?  I have read the compliance documentation and the accessibility features by release (i.e. San Diego, Tokyo... etc), but is there a document that clarifies exactly what happens in ServiceNow when only the "Accessibility Enabled" toggle button is activated?

Any feedback is appreciated.

Cheers,

Hello,

The platform includes features that support Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 level A to make the interface accessible to users with disabilities. These features improve the user experience when accessing the instance with screen readers and keyboard navigation.

Examples of some changes are in the documentation here:

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/tokyo-platform-user-interface/page/administer/accessibility-508-c...

where it shows an accessibility graph version instead of the normal graph/pie chart.

You're not seeing anything different right away on the portal because it's not a "night and day" difference, it's subtle changes and only applicable to certain pieces of the SN framework.

Please mark my answer as correct based on Impact.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.  A few follow-up questions:

  1. Is the 'Accessibility Enabled' Toggle Switch in Core the same as the 'Accessibility Enabled' Toggle Switch in Core?
  2. Are all the Accessibility Features in Core (listed below) available to be used and applied in Portal:
    • Data visualization patterns enabled
    • Enable screen readers to read charts and graphs
    • Show tooltips on forms
    • Show date & time format in field label
    • Show record preview tooltips on Slushbucket items when available
  3. As a general question, what does Portal offer in terms of accessibility to address the following items:
    • Enable the accessible form tooltips feature
    • Enable the high contrast theme
    • Tooltips on images
    • Keyboard accessibility
    • Screen reader accessibility
    • accessibility search methods
    • Handling links
