A have a question, our dept has a leave request and the workflow to get it approved works fine. Management now wants to be able to have the supervisor approve a cancelled request after it has been started. would this be done in the workflow?

I have to apologize. I still do not understand your needs. This sentence is very confusing:
"My supervisor wants to be able to approve a cancelled leave request (You cant approve a canceled request because a canceled request is "Canceled" and cant be restarted) instead of employees being able to cancel each approved request (You cant Cancel an approved request either because per your workflow, once it's approved the workflow is done) and then we can't keep track of the leave they had used?
If a leave request has been canceled, then i have to assume that the leave wasn't taken because the request was canceled (not approved) right? Therefore, cant you ask the employee to resubmit a request for leave if it has been canceled for some reason and then the supervisor can approve it?
Again, i'm sorry i'm not understanding this requirement but it's just not making sense to me.
