I have a catalog item that is the combination of 3 fairly similar catalog items. There are a few variables common to all 3 which I have defined as variables. Now I plan to create 3 variable sets for fields specific to each of the catalog items I combined.
I am by no means a developer, but have created a couple of basic catalog ui policy scripts. I go to that tab in the catalog item in maintain items, select new and type away...I have pretty much only done the controlling of visibility and mandatory/not mandatory. My question is will a UI policy created that way be able to be used for the 3 variable set's variables, and if not, how would I do it?

Hi Mike,
Yes, this can definitely be achieved — as long as all three variable sets are associated with the catalog item.
Within that catalog item, you can create a UI Policy. In the UI Policy configuration, you'll have the ability to select variables from the attached variable sets. From there, you can define the variable name and specify the desired actions accordingly.
Let me know if you need help.
Mark this as correct and helpful if this solves your question.
Thanks,
Yaswanth.

Hello @Mike LHCG1
Yes, you can create a UI Policy on a catalog item to control variables from a variable set, as long as the variable set has been added to the catalog item.
Steps:
- Create a new/existing UI policy on catalog item
- In the condition builder select the desired variable set -> variable from variable set
- Save and add UI policy action
- Save and test
Example:
Here Item details step is the variable set attached to the catalog item.
Hope this helps!
