Developer Instance is undergoing unscheduled maintenance. Get Notified when your PDI is available.

Has anyone's instance ever come back after seeing this message? Did you get notified?

I've been waiting for over a week, and I see other community posts where after a month their instance is still unavailable.

I'm feeling this is ServiceNow version of a BSOD where the only course of action is to wipe and start again!!

After a couple of weeks with the same message, i logged in the other day to find my instance had gone and needed to request a new instance.  I received no notifications about the instance ever becoming available, or the instance was being reclaimed due to inactivity.

Based on my experience, the responses here, and other community posts relating to this particular message, I have concluded the following:

  1. If backup of code exist, wait 2-4 hours before starting fresh.
  2. If no backup and i care about not loosing anything code, wait as needed - may get lucky!
  3. Don't wait, start fresh - life's too short!

Hi @AndersBGS  - In your experience, how long was the wait before instance was restored and working again? Did you get notified, or you just periodically checked?

Hi @Jon23 ,

Normally it takes some hours till 1 day.... but that is the longest I have experienced myself. Back when I got it, I had the opportunity to click "notify me" or something similar which worked as intended.

Hi there,

I have seen such messages in the past, not recently myself. Though ServiceNow did change quite a bit on the PDIs and the support on it... its way more limited now 😞 Like others already mentioned, there is no (official) support anymore.

About how long such can take, when the PDI can be back... or not?! No clue, really differs everytime. Sometimes an hour, sometimes 1 or 2 days. Sometimes... the PDI is just gone (or it is still their, though not attached to your account anymore).

This is immediately a reminder and warning: always backup your work. As your PDI can always suddenly be offline (even if your were working on it 5 minutes before) or suddenly be gone.

Kind regards,

I waited weeks for the message to go away or be notified. Unfortunately, my PDI never came back up. I ended up having to release and request a new instance.
