Email validation in service portal

Hello I have a requirement where we need to validate email address in the service portal , where should i write the script ? on the widget client controller or client script on the widget ?

and we want to accept any email address @gmail.com     , can some one help me out

You can reuse code in above post and add in your widget client controller as alert.
