Group Approval - How to send approval email to "Group email" and not members of group

Hello,

I have been chasing my tail a bit on this, and have spent many hours searching for any sort of solution.

We have a workflow configured that needs a Group Approval, but instead of pinging each member of that group we would like the approval email to be sent to a separate mailbox. When I initially created the group, there was a field for "Group email" and the hint/tooltip for it states: "By default the group email address overrides individual email addresses of members". Which gave me some hope that the approval email would be sent to that mailbox, instead of all of the group members. However, no matter what I have tried, it still wants to go to a group member, or skips the approval if I remove all members.

I have checked business rules, and even compared the "SNC - Create user approvals for group" rule to what is on the ServiceNow demo instance - everything matches up. There is another field in the group table called "Include members" and it is set to false (by default).

Maybe I am missing something, or perhaps that email "override" is referencing something completely different than approvals...?

Any ideas? Please let me know if you need any additional details.

I forgot to mention that I am considering creating a generic user with that email, and then adding it to the group as a workaround. I will be testing that alternative this afternoon and respond back with my findings.

I would still like to know what the "override" is regarding, and if I'm missing something on the original design.

did you manage to get the approval by Group instead of group member sorted? I am trying to achieve the same.

trying to solve the issue , but there are so many additional issues.

You can set up the notification to run on sysapproval_group table and use the "include members"   check box to control notification to group mail or members.

second issue is the link in the email sent out... can only point to the group approval record and the Approver need to pick the line in the related list.

third issue is that sysapproval_approver notifiations has be corrected to avoid duplicate email.

Have you got any solution for this. Even I have provided the workaround like you, added the group email as member of the group. But that consumes license.
