Help on Client script

i want field on a form to change when i open the record, so i used onload client script. But onload client is working only when i load the form manually not when i open the record. How to proceed? Please help

How the record is opened?

I have written on load client script to change value in one particular field, but i open the the form its not changing the value, only when i load the form the value is getting changed
