How do I keep my instance awake always?

I have read through the posts for sleepy instance which is mentioned in the below link here, URL: https://developer.servicenow.com/app.do#!/program/faq?q=sleepy_personal_peveloper_instances . I am using the latest Istanbul version of the instance. I can only find about 22 scripts in my client scripts whereas my colleague has hundreds and thousands of it. How do I get the client scripts which are required added onto my instance? Is my instance going to sleep related to scripts?

                It says as follows:

Sleepy Personal Developer Instances

1. Why do instances become sleepy?

In order to maximize the investment in the program, and remain no cost, the program now leverages idle instance capacity. If an assigned instance is idle, the state is saved and hibernated. Navigating to the My Instance page can activate the instance. There are more details about the situation in this Community blog post.

4. How does sleepiness impact my instance?

While in the hibernation state, scheduled jobs, API calls and other functions that require an online and active instance will not be available.

My requirement:

  1. I want a total control of my instance irrespective of the cost saving. I need to know about the option to change the number of hours before it goes into hibernation mode pertaining to my instance.
  2. I don't want it to go into hibernation state anytime and want it be active always.

Hello Nandan,

Hope you are doing fine!

I have to say that I've read this thread with quite big interest, following the discussion between you and Pradeep.
What's made me a really big expression is the fact that you are addressing the hibernation of your DEV instance as an 'issue'.

Well, as you said, you went through the most Friquently Asked Questions
(https://developer.servicenow.com/app.do#!/program/faq?q=sleepy_personal_peveloper_instances), so you should be familiar with the reasons behind the DEV instances hibernation by now.
The whole idea is that if a DEV instance is not being actively used (as described in the materials included in the FAQ) - then it will automatically hibernate in order for resources to be "saved", to say so.
As you know, ServiceNow provides DEV instances to a really great number of people, so the resources usage is tremendous, there are no doubts here.

To me, personally, the hibernation is not an issue. It is a fair price which I am willing to accept while I am using a DEV ServiceNow Platform, for free.

Anyway, I heart that there is an option which provides you with an alternative -> to have a ServiceNow Instance without the "presence" of hibernation on it.
Thus, I would like to share it with you. Hopefully, you will find it useful.

If you have the capacity, to say so, to become a part of the Technology Partner Program
(PartnerNow | Sales, Services, Technology Partners | ServiceNow) - then, you will be provided with an instance which will not go to sleep (hibernate) and also will not expire due to inactivity.
Here, I have to mention that this instance comes with an year price. It is a high one (several K USD per year),
but this option will cover your need for an instance which does not hibernate.

In addition, you will have a good set of advantages if your company is looking to develop custom applications (the applications you & your colleagues create will be published in the ServiceNow Store (https://store.servicenow.com/) which is a good prospect).

This is up to you and your company, of course.

Yet, if you are willing to join the Technology Partner Program and can afford the cost - then I think this might be the 'solution' you are looking for, Nandan.

Best Regards,

Georgi

Hello Nandan,

Please my find response below

1. Hibernation is controlled from ServiceNow end only and you don't have control on changing number of hours.

2. If you are continuing to use it actively through the day, you should have around 6 hours of inactivity before hibernation begins. That should be more than enough for anyone using it on a normal workday. If you come back to it in your evening, it might require waking up again but in most cases a single waking should last through the entire day unless you do it early and then don't touch it all day.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Dear Mr. Pradeep Sharma,

I have read your posts previously on the same subject mentioned here, URL: https://community.servicenow.com/thread/223582?q=How%20do%20I%20keep%20my%20instance but it is still not marked as "answered", "liked" or "helpful" because irrespective of your controls we require solutions for the problems that we are reporting.

See the posting here, URL:https://community.servicenow.com/thread/242932?q=How%20do%20I%20keep%20my%20instance , again no solution provided. It is not only my requirement, but it is a requirement for others which is in common, so request you to provide us a permanent solution.

Can you suggest a client script or a business rule which can keep it awake, before it goes into hibernation mode? Please give us a solution and you can keep your controls with you(ServiceNow).

Dear Mr. Pradeep Sharma,

I did not understand this. Could you please elaborate? If I understand this requires your manager intervention or approval. Kindly let me know if anything is required from my end.
