I have read through the posts for sleepy instance which is mentioned in the below link here, URL: https://developer.servicenow.com/app.do#!/program/faq?q=sleepy_personal_peveloper_instances . I am using the latest Istanbul version of the instance. I can only find about 22 scripts in my client scripts whereas my colleague has hundreds and thousands of it. How do I get the client scripts which are required added onto my instance? Is my instance going to sleep related to scripts?
It says as follows:
Sleepy Personal Developer Instances
1. Why do instances become sleepy?
In order to maximize the investment in the program, and remain no cost, the program now leverages idle instance capacity. If an assigned instance is idle, the state is saved and hibernated. Navigating to the My Instance page can activate the instance. There are more details about the situation in this Community blog post.
4. How does sleepiness impact my instance?
While in the hibernation state, scheduled jobs, API calls and other functions that require an online and active instance will not be available.
My requirement:
- I want a total control of my instance irrespective of the cost saving. I need to know about the option to change the number of hours before it goes into hibernation mode pertaining to my instance.
- I don't want it to go into hibernation state anytime and want it be active always.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Hello Nandan,
Hope you are doing fine!
I have to say that I've read this thread with quite big interest, following the discussion between you and Pradeep.
What's made me a really big expression is the fact that you are addressing the hibernation of your DEV instance as an 'issue'.
Well, as you said, you went through the most Friquently Asked Questions (https://developer.servicenow.com/app.do#!/program/faq?q=sleepy_personal_peveloper_instances), so you should be familiar with the reasons behind the DEV instances hibernation by now.
The whole idea is that if a DEV instance is not being actively used (as described in the materials included in the FAQ) - then it will automatically hibernate in order for resources to be "saved", to say so.
As you know, ServiceNow provides DEV instances to a really great number of people, so the resources usage is tremendous, there are no doubts here.
To me, personally, the hibernation is not an issue. It is a fair price which I am willing to accept while I am using a DEV ServiceNow Platform, for free.
Anyway, I heart that there is an option which provides you with an alternative -> to have a ServiceNow Instance without the "presence" of hibernation on it.
Thus, I would like to share it with you. Hopefully, you will find it useful.
If you have the capacity, to say so, to become a part of the Technology Partner Program (PartnerNow | Sales, Services, Technology Partners | ServiceNow) - then, you will be provided with an instance which will not go to sleep (hibernate) and also will not expire due to inactivity.
Here, I have to mention that this instance comes with an year price. It is a high one (several K USD per year), but this option will cover your need for an instance which does not hibernate.
In addition, you will have a good set of advantages if your company is looking to develop custom applications (the applications you & your colleagues create will be published in the ServiceNow Store (https://store.servicenow.com/) which is a good prospect).
This is up to you and your company, of course.
Yet, if you are willing to join the Technology Partner Program and can afford the cost - then I think this might be the 'solution' you are looking for, Nandan.
Best Regards,
Georgi

Pradeep,
I appreciate your patience, tolerance and support by stating the same thing again. I think I got the reply. You could stop answering my questions as much of your help does not actually help me.

When I first started teaching myself about the ServiceNow platform, I had to convince a SN partner to give me access to their sandbox and read the Wiki backwards and forwards.
I recognize that I am not entitled (even as a ServiceNow customer) to the developer portal program content or my own ServiceNow development instance. You are simply offering a free service that makes it easier for aspiring developers to learn the platform. If I wanted to dictate how my development instance would be managed, I would join the ServiceNow technology partner program.
Thank you for your efforts in providing this valuable service.
Warmest Regards,
Your average ServiceNow community member.

Hi Nandan,
As a few other people have mentioned (thanks everyone for the responses) - if you need an instance that does not hibernate or get reclaimed, you are free to purchase them through our Technology Partner Program.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you. But still I am more interested towards anything available free of cost as an act of service towards society. I appreciate your help!
