Hi, I have created several departments (cmn_department), including one that I'd like to be the parent department and the rest child departments under the parent. In the related list I've added department -> parent, but is this the correct way to do it? Why is there only a "new" button and no "edit" button to add already existing departments.
Thanks in advance!

Hi @JordyZ
If you fill out the OOTB reference field parent with another department than the selected, then on the parent record you will be able to see child departments in the related list that you have added.

Don't use "new", you need to configure the form layout so it shows the parent field. Then on the child record, set the parent to whatever existing department you need.
When you go back to the parent record, it will show the child.

Hi,
Set the parent on the child record, then go back to the parent record and you will see the child listed on the department tab.

Hi @jackinsidend ,
When I go to the child record, I still see no way to set the parent. How exactly do I do this?

Hi,
Add "parent" to the form. Right click on header, configure then form layout and then add paretn.
