You need to install Langauge Translation plugin to translate any fields on a form. Once installed you need to configure the Translation for the checklist field.

@Samyukta1 In order to translate the checklist item, simply change the language from preference open the checklist where you would like to translate the text, replace the english text with the text translated in the selected language and save.

Unfortunately all previous answers on this topic were incorrect. This concerns checklist_item records, for which the name field is just a plain string field.
