How to update security on a list view

Hello -

So, maybe its because it's Friday, but this seems simple.  I want to be able to "open up" fields on a list view to be editable there and having a hard time finding where I can do that.

There are some fields where you can do this and others you cannot.  I was thinking it was an ACL, but I am unable to determine which and the ones that do seem like they would do what is needed...well, don't do what is needed.  Here's a look at the list below.  In particular it's the Category and Subcategory fields.  if you double click them they have the pop that says "security prevents..."  which would tell me ACL...but again, which one?  The table these records are on is extended to TASK.  If you dive into a record itself then you CAN edit those fields.

Hi,

My apologies that my reply didn't fully guide you Correctly.

The main point is that there are a few things that would impact you not changing the value on the list view. I listed a few, but the hope was that that information would guide you towards taking a peek at things more in-depth. Like, the dictionary record beyond just read-only and perhaps look at field dependency, data policies, other things like that.

You can check fields and if some are writable, but others aren't, dig in, find the differences.

We can't necessarily cover everything as we don't know how your instance is set up, but the system isn't picking just those two fields randomly.

There's also list controls that could be established as well: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/rome-platform-administration/page/administer/list-administration/...

For testing purposes, try and remove the field dependency and see if you can edit on list view or not...things like that.

Please mark reply as Helpful/Correct, if applicable. Thanks!

I appreciate it.  I have been looking all over and I just cannot put 2 and 2 together as to what it would be.

Client Scripts, List Control, Data Policies...all that I can think of I looked at...ACLs...the list goes on and on.  And I agree, the system doesn't randomly pick what is read only and what is not.

I tried removing the dependency and it remains read only.  I saw a list_edit ACL for the table this is on...shows as sn_customerservice_case*  and states "Allow no access to fields on the case list view."  I disabled both I saw and still...nada.  Looked over dictionary overrides...again, nada.  Doesn't make sense to me.
