Information need for Migration to Dedicated environment to Shared Environment

Hi Team,

We are in the process of transitioning our instance from a dedicated environment to a shared environment. To ensure a smooth migration, it is crucial to identify and address potential impact points that may arise as a result of this change.

Below, I have outlined several key areas that might need our attention during the impact analysis. Please note that I am relatively new to migration processes, so I welcome any corrections or additions to this list:

  • Downtime: Assessing the expected downtime during migration and its impact on operations.
  • Performance: Evaluating any changes in application performance due to shared environment.
  • API Endpoint Changes: Identifying any modifications required for API endpoints in the new shared environment.
  • Compliance and Certifications: Ensuring that all necessary certifications are maintained post-migration.
  • Security: Reviewing security measures and potential vulnerabilities in the shared environment.
  • Integration Call Performance: Analyzing the effect on performance and response times for integration calls.
  • Plugin Installation: Checking compatibility and re installation of plugins in the shared environment

I kindly request your assistance in refining this list to ensure it is comprehensive and accurate. Your expertise will be invaluable in presenting a detailed impact analysis to our stakeholders.

Thanks in advance.

Is it a fresh, new instance that you are going to share, leaving the old one, or is it your existing one that you are going to share?

And what is the definition of 'share'? Are you just adding more teams/countries/departments to it so more people are going to use it, or is it becoming a domain separated instance?

For your list: I am missing the processes. Not knowing what you are running and what 'sharing' is going to look like, your processes need to be adapted by all users, or ensure that the sharing partners can use their own process without it colliding with others.

I also don't see anything about foundation data (or even data segregation) for/between the sharing partners (users/locations/cmdb/etc).

I am missing data on your list (old tickets/open tickets/reporting/etc).

Please mark any helpful or correct solutions as such. That helps others find their solutions.
