Is it possible to create a ServiceNow Report based on Saved CMDB Query Builder or is it possible to populate a user defined table data using this saved CMDB query Builder??

Hi,

I have saved a query using CMDB Query Builder   on (Discovered Service - Server CI) tables. and now i wanted to build a report using this saved query

If this is not possible is there a way to populate this query results data using scheduled job into a user defined table so that i can build the report based on this user defined table...

so far i have seen schedule this query to send the results to an email address but i haven't found anything to call this query in report or script includes...

Thank you,

Srini

Hi Srinivasa Rao,

Yes, we can create report based on saved cmdb query builder. I have attached some screen shot from that you can easily understand the cmdb query builder we can built and generate the reports.

Once you hover over the mouse the ci you can able to see the filter option, once you click on that on top that a filter condition will be visible and left hand side you can see the properties, on the filter condition you can query and using properties option you can add the fields. After that if you click the run button then you will be able to see the report and there should be option to export using that we can able to get excel formatted file.

the question is:

is it possible to reuse the CMSB Query in a different modules

- can you build a report using Reports   or Dashboards   (Outside CMDB Query Builder)

- can you capture the CMDB Query in script includes

I have also not found any useful trick to benefit from the CMDB Query Builder, its standard functionality of mapping is not enough for reporting.

I am still trying to activate Service Mapping plugin but

1) its a separate subscruption

2) I do not believe it has better presentation (have not seen it yet), the whole benefit is on automatic mapping

I have also struggled with this, but at least I know how to make a report of the results. When you run the query the results are presented as a list. Just right-click on the column header and choose Bar or Pie Chart. Then you will see the results in Reports application. However, the results does not seem to be permanent. Íf I have a report for a certain query, the results in that query disappears after some time. Very annoying. I guess it is only temporary, but for how long I don´t know.

Also, I have not really got the whole picture around the Query builder either, I would like to use it for drilling down on a top level Business Service, and getting a list of all components related to that Business Service, but for some reason I don´t seem to get the query right.
