Public knowledge article redirecting to login page

I am trying to make some knowledge base articles public (so people can view without needing to log in)
I made kb_view "true" and have left the roles blank - but every time the article loads it will display for a moment and then redirect to the log in page.
How do I stop the redirect?

Are you trying to view the article from within the default ServiceNow or from a public Service Portal page?
The page you want to view the article on will also need to be public, or ServiceNow will request you to login to view its content.

You should not be able to view an article, even public articles, from the Platform, since many parts of the platform require you to be logged in to view. I would try creating a public Service Portal page to display and view articles you publish as public facing. You can use the Service Portal page kb_view2 as a template for the page you want to display.
