Hi
Wondering why I just got a reclaimation email notice saying my PDI will be reclaimed 15th July.
Been logged into my PDI and actively developing and creating all day today, and yesterday and the day before that.
I am worried this could turn out to be a ***show. If I am getting this mail can I ask if others received and have been actively logged in e.g last few day sand would not meet criteria of reclaimation.
Please ServiceNow for sure great idea, but I implore you to get it done with correct dilligence.
Thanks and happy developing.

Hi Frank,
It does sound like you have an old PDI that you haven't been actively using. Whilst you've mentioned the last few days, the wording on their blog post says they started sending from the 7th July, which was last Tuesday. So if you hadn't logged in for 10 or more days before then, you would be eligible.
I get the frustration but remember that PDI's are a free service so ServiceNow will have to make decisions about ensuring they are as sustainable as possible and PDI's should not be relied upon to always be yours.
Also, as it's a new process they may get it slightly wrong and possibly reclaim them incorrectly but remember that everyone's human and mistakes get made. At least they're still providing them and not taking it away!
If you need a PDI for longer term things, the guidance given in their new blog post around Backing Up Your Personal Developer Instance (PDI) is really helpful so be sure to make use of that 🙂

Hi @fjvm9,
ServiceNow have sent their first email regarding PDI reclaimation from July 7. If you werent an active user before it, then you might have been part of their list. ServiceNow wants the PDIs be best utilised for hands-on for those who are on their waitlist for a while. So you can back up your work using their article: Backing Up Your Personal Developer Instance (PDI)
It is frustrating but they are atleast notifying you in advance to back up your work. Once my PDI got reclaimed while I was actively working on a personal project and I hadn't backed it up. So you are in a relatively bit better situation.
Please Accept the solution if it assisted you with your question & Mark this response as Helpful.
Regards,
Ehab Pilloor

It shouldn't be any show as PDIs are meant for short-term testing and personal use. Client demos, POCs or other commercial stuff should be built somewhere else. Plus it's always a great time to learn source control or about utilising the SDK to save your app locally or in github for example. It will not just help you preserve your efforts but teach you about important devops concepts. You can also just export apps as update sets.
For servicenow it's a balance in empowering developers and controlling costs. Consider how many PDIs there potentially are (+ now learning instances) and the resources needed for that.
