Reference field on incident table behaves weird when using auto completion

Hey everyone,

we have stumbled on another issue (or better said knowledge lack) we have.

Following scenario:

We have created a custom table with custom columns.
After that we have created a reference field in the Incident table that is referencing to this custom table.
We have changed the reference list view so that we can see the columns we want to see when using auto complete.

However, when using auto complete, the field always uses auto complete for the sys_id. Not for the column we wish to use. It also shows the sys_id in the reference list view, even we removed it from the list in System UI views.

Another weird thing is, that when we open the magnifying glass and the list view there and click on one of our columns (coalesce), which also shall be the one column where we want to use the auto complete on, it fills the field not with the value out of the column, but with the created date instead.
When using auto complete, it fills it with the sys_id.

What are we doing wrong here? Where exactly do we need to change these settings?

Thank you for helping out.

Regards

Elena

Hi,

Can you please share screenshots?

I believe you have not set Display field for your custom table.

Please Open the dictionary of the field which should be shown in selected field after selection. (Like Number on Incident).

Hi,

On your custom table which field you selected as a Display true ?

Go to dictionary of that table and see which column did you selected as Display true.

Only one field can be selected as a display true which would show up on reference field as name.

And dictionary attributes which would also help you to resolve your issue,
