Request for Assistance - Optimal Approach for Customizing Mega Navigation in Employee Center Portal

Hi,

 

We are currently engaged in the development of a custom mega navigation on the Employee Center Portal for the topics associated with the taxonomy. At this stage, the Out-Of-The-Box (OOTB) feature derived from the widget "Employee Center Navigation" for the mega nav. provides a certain functionality - namely, the ability to only fetch the names of associated topics.

Our key objective, however, necessitates an expansion of these functionalities. Specifically, we wish to design a system that's capable of fetching and displaying not just the names, but also the associated icons and descriptions of the topics from the record on the mega navigation. Additionally, we're aiming to execute a set of design alterations to customize the interface further.

It's my current understanding that implementing such changes will likely demand substantial customization of the above-mentioned widget.I am reaching out to inquire if anyone has previously dealt with a similar requirement or holds pertinent insights that may aid us in navigating this task with maximum efficiency.

Any assistance, advice, or suggested strategies one might provide would be greatly appreciated. For clarity, I have attached an image highlighting the topics where we aim to add the description and icons.
