Data visualisations (ie: the new "reports"), can be saved to the data visualisation library for reuse on multiple dashboards. In this case, the data visualisation you're editing here, "My Groups Work", comes from the data visualisation library, so you're presented with two options when you change it on a dashboard:
- Save changes only for this dashboard: The changes you made to the data visualisation will only apply to that data visualisation instance on the dashboard you edited it on. If you were to view the data visualisation again to by re-adding it to your dashboard, it will have its old settings without the new configurations you've made.
- Save changes to library: This applies the new configurations you've made to the shared data visualisation, and not just to the one instance of it on your dashboard. That means that any future use of the data visualisation will have the new configurations applied to it.

Thank you, Nick. This is how I thought it would work so I tested it and it didn't seem to behave any differently. So, if you save to dashboard, it more or less makes a copy of the visualization and doesn't change the original. If you save to library, it changes the original version, correct? When I saved to dashboard, I expected to find two copies, but I did not. Maybe I am not thinking of it clearly. Does it make a copy that you can find in the library if you save to dashboard?
Thanks,
Jonathan

Say you make a really useful report. So useful you intend to use it on multiple dashboards.
Except maybe it took you an hour to create.... so someone will spend an hour every time they want to add it.
Platform Analytics Experience allows you to save it ... kind of like a template or a model.
So next time you need that report on a dashboard you just say "give me that cool report we made"
In the scenario you're showing, you're on a dashboard but you've altered the cool report you made for all dashboards to use.
ServiceNow wants to know
Do you want to change this report for ALL dashboards that reference it? (I wish they'd list the dashboards!!)
Do you want to make the change JUST to THIS instance of the report?

Thank you! The other part that I can't figure out is the difference in Edit Fixed Filter and Edit Filter on Data Visualization. In theory, I understand it but not in use. When you open the visualization, there is no way to edit the filter, it just loads. It you select view all, you can change any part of the filter, fixed or not. I've spent a lot of time researching this and only find definitions that make no sense. Do you have any insight on how this works?
Thanks,
Jonathan
