Searching using knowledge meta tags

if we write meta tag 'abcdefgh' in kb article we are able to search kb article using 'abcdefgh' in Search but if we search 'abcd' in Search we get no matches found. How to enable search for partial words in meta tags for kb articles?

The search engine will automatically search for common word derivatives. For example, if you search for "laugh," you will likely get back results for laugh, laughs, laughed, laughing, etc. since "-s," "-ed," and "-ing" are common word endings. I would not expect results necessarily for laughter since "ter" is just not a common enough ending for the search engine to know about it.

In your specific example, "efgh" is not a common ending, so it's not automatically searching for it. I assume that's just an example and not a real-world search term. One use case for the metadata field is exactly what you're asking about... if you know that people search for a term, but don't get the right results, add that term ("abcd") to the metadata field so they will see the article they are looking for.

Back to my example, if people were searching for "laugh" and expecting to get results containing "laughter," I would add "laugh" in the metadata of the KB article.

You can try using wildcard search in that case like "abcd*" which will work.

Is there any settings that has to be made, before wildcard search will work on a knowledge articles meta words.

In my case I have 2 Meta words on my article.

"vcruntime"  and "vcruntime140.dll"

The article can only be found if I type in one of the excact word.

If I for example type in "vcrun*"  it dosn't find anything.
