Hi All,

I am new to developing.   Am nearing completion of the Associate Application Developer Training (Free)

 

All has gone really well until now. 

I am in the latter part of the "Flow Fundamentals" course (8hr 8 Mins)

More precisely, I in the "Create a Flow (Yokohama)" On Demand Course.

I am in Lesson 13 - Activity 2: Add Flow Logic in the "Configure the Branch for P3 and P4 Records"

I am at Step 2.  Instruction says to set Approval Reason: "Manager approval required"

I have tried every way I know to find and enter this Approval Reason, to no avail.

 

I am at a loss as to how to proceed.  Any help appreciated

Hi @Community Alums 

Since you have tried everything, why not try to manually type Priority 1 or 2 needs approval for approval field, I think its a string field and no dot walking/ data pill is required in this case

Then Save the flow and then check.

@Community Alums Approval Reason is a string field, you simply type in the text you want to display as the approval reason. When it is provided in the course you can just copy and paste the text from the instructions if you want to make sure it matches exactly.

Hi @Community Alums ,

You mean, although after selecting the Action and setting the Record and Table fields, the Approval reason field isn't coming for you ??

Can you share a screenshot of the 'Ask for Approvals' action in your flow.

Reference the attached png, Social Media Response Approvals".

The instructions are:

Insert a ServiceNow Core > Ask For Approvals Action.

Annotation: From the Social Media Managers group

Record: Trigger > Monitor Record (drag the data pill over or use the Data Pill Picker)

Table: Monitor [x_snc_social_media_monitor] (automatically populates)

Approval Reason: Priority 1 or 2 needs approval

Approval Field: Approval (automatically populates)

Journal Field: Approval history (automatically populates)

 

The Approval Reason field is, of course, initially blank (see Attached SShot)

The instructions Indicate to populate it with "Priority 1 or 2 needs approval" 

...... But I see no means to do that

.......... I click the Data Pill Picker for Approval Reason at the end of that field

............ There I see two choices

............... Trigger - Record Updated

                           If I open this one to dot walk, I show

                                Monitor Record       Record>

                                Changed Fields       Array.object>

                                 Monitor Table          Table

                                 Run Start Time UTC    Date/Time

                                 Run Start Date/Time   Date/Time

............... 1 - Update Record

                         If I open this one to dot walk, I show

                                Monitor Record             Record>

                                Monitor Table                 Table

                                Action Status                 Object >

                                Don't Treat as Error       True/False

 

But when I dot walk, I see no list of, "Approval Reasons"

 

So .... I am still lost

Hi,

Do you mean that the Approval reason input line isn't showing at all?

If it's read-only, then make sure you have set the Flow to editing mode (see attached image)

The approval reason Line does indeed show and it is not readonly.  But as per reply to soumyadeep10,

I am unable to find a way to properly populate this field

 

I'm lost as the lead goose in a hail storm
