SMTP authentication failure

I am using 4 email accounts (one per instance), which all work fine from my 3 non-prod environments.
When testing the connexion on the production environment, I am getting : "Email sender connection invalid.: Cannot connect to SMTP server:XXXXXX, as: YYYYY, message: 535 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful". We are using STARTTLS.
My internal email provider is telling me the account info (login/password) is wrongly hashed when it reaches the SMTP server from my prod, although everything is fine from my non-prod environments.
I am struggling to find which misconfiguration might have been done on the SMTP or TLS. Helpwould be greatly appreciated!
