'Successful' close code is not appearing on Change form

Hello,

Whenever any of the change tasks are 'Closed Incomplete', 'successful' close code disappears from its Change.

Its an OOB functionality. As per requirement, it should be requester's choice to close the change with relevant close code.
I have searched BR, script includes and client scripts but had no luck.

Can some please point form where the close code 'Successful' disappears.

Thanks in advance

Hi @Rachael12 ,

In ServiceNow, the disappearance of the Successful close code from a Change form when any associated Change Task is set to Closed Incomplete is an expected out-of-the-box feature. This functionality is designed to prevent the closure of a Change Request with a Successful status if any related tasks are incomplete, ensuring that all tasks are completed before marking the change as successful.

The Successful close code is typically available when: All associated Change Tasks are in a Closed Complete state or If any Change Task is set to Closed Incomplete, the system automatically removes the Successful option to prevent the Change Request from being closed as successful while tasks remain incomplete.

If you want to go ahead with some Custom Logic, develop custom scripts to allow the selection of Successful regardless of task states, ensuring that the Change Request can be closed as successful even if some tasks are incomplete.

Hi @kaushal_snow

I have some doubts about what you mentioned—it doesn’t seem correct. I’ve worked as a Change Manager for a long time, and I don’t believe there is any valid logic like this. It really depends on the nature of the change and, based on Change Management practices, what needs to be done if any task is not successful.

I tested this in my PDI, and there is no validation as you mentioned. Could you please share the official documentation for the same?

Last time as well, for one of the questions, you shared some information but, when I asked, you didn’t provide any official document or link. That’s not correct and may impact future readers as well.
