Time Card Portal Configuration

Can anyone help point me to the configurations that control what Tickets are listed on the left of the time card portal under Tasks/All Tasks?  Currently, our portal only shows tickets that have a time card created against them.  We would like to show all active tickets that are assigned to the logged in user here.

Thanks,

Jonathan Hinkle

Hi,

Can you clarify your question, if you don't mind.

Out of box it's supposed to show assigned tasks based on specific tables. Not limited to just tasks that you've created a time card for.

Are you saying from your research tasks are only in that left-hand column within the time sheet portal are tasks that have a time card against it?

If so, then someone may have actually customized the widget already from the out of box setting...or...the "tasks" you speak of aren't one of the out of box tables which are: incident,problem,change_request,rm_story,rm_scrum_task,pm_project,pm_project_task,tm_test_plan,rm_defect,rm_enhancement

Otherwise, you'd have to add those tasks via search to then add time against it, which then shows on your time sheet.

Please give more information if you don't mind.

If you need to adjust and add another table that isn't one of those out of box tables (meaning your widget wasn't actually customized, you're just thinking it works 'x' way, but it's really due to a different table), then you would need to customize the widget to add your other table(s). Here's the documentation showing how to do that: https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0786083

Hi Allen,

You are correct, its just the Tasks that show up on the left hand side when opening the portal.  We've had contractors working with us many times so its a good possibility they have modify this widget.  Right now, when you open the portal, if you have no time cards created for the week, the section under Tasks is empty.  If you add time to a ticket, it will then show up but only then.

I have included an image of the section being referenced.

Thanks again,

Hello,

Thanks, yeah I'm aware of the section you're talking about and my reply was also about that so I don't believe we're on different pages? 🙂

In my reply above I mentioned that out of box all assigned tasks (again...specific to those tables that I provided) show under "Tasks" automatically, without time submitted against it.

You can navigate to your time sheet portal and press ctrl+right-click and see if there's custom widgets there instead of the out of box ones. If so, consider reverting back to out of box. I assume you're stuck at that point and don't have any prior development notes, stories, etc. that you can reference to see if any work was ever done here?

If on the Time Sheet Portal you're not seeing:

find_real_file.png

as the name of the widget/you look into things further, please check for custom widgets and swap them out with out of box ones to revert things to the functionality you're looking for.

Hi @Allen Andreas , have you tried to implement the solution in the KB article you mentioned above?

I tried it on PDI - SD release and it did not work, so just confirming if you have tried it and it works ? I tried to add change_task table to the default list of tables int he widget but it doesnt seem to work even after assigning the task to myself.
