Aspect | Child Schedules | Schedule Entries |
Definition | Additional schedules linked to a parent schedule, providing more granularity and inheriting parent properties. | Individual time periods defined within a schedule, representing specific start and end times. |
Use Case | Create exceptions or specific time frames within a broader schedule. | Define exact working hours or business hours within a schedule. |
When to Use | For scenarios requiring special time periods or exceptions within the main schedule. | For defining regular working hours, holidays, or specific downtime periods. |
Example | Special 24-hour support on the first Monday of every month. | Regular business hours (e.g., 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday). |
Example Scenario:
- Schedule Entries: Regular business hours (e.g., 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday).
- Child Schedules: Special 24-hour support on the first Monday of each month, which overrides the regular business hours for that specific day.
Summary:
- Use Schedule Entries: For setting up primary working hours or business hours for SLAs.
- Use Child Schedules: For adding exceptions or special time periods that modify or extend the main schedule.
