Xanadu - Sidebar Discussion not have badge count in Next UI

I'm having a strange situation:
I enabled the discussion sidebar for Next UI and it works, but the problem is that even though the user has unread messages, the discussion icon doesn't show the number of unread messages for the user.
Has anyone encountered this situation before, and how to fix it?
