Using the DPM Admin centre, you can map KPI groups to ensure they are collected the next time the Analytics job runs. To reduce administrator overhead both at install time of DPM plugins and as the CSDM changes, a Daily scheduled job automatically creates the KPI group mapping each time a new CSDM element appears without a KPI group mapping. This ensures every CSDM element is appears within the hierarchy of the DPM workspace. This doesn't ensure the Service Offering commitments are established as they should, but that would be part of the process to build the Services as part of Service builder or otherwise.
Refer to the attached scheduled job, which essentially does the following:
- For each CSDM Element by Type (in the scheduled job there are Service Portfolio, Service, Service Offering, Business Application, Service Instance)
- Find the KPI groups that are available for that type, for each KPI group then
- If there no existing KPI Group Mapping for that KPI Group & CSDM element - insert KPI Group mapping
The end result is zero overhead to maintain the KPI group mappings, and you can focus more on CMDB health, CSDM maturity or adopting other features within Digital Portfolio Management.
This could extended to include other Types such as Enterprise portfolios, or any others that are introduced by you or the product overtime.
