ServiceNow® Enterprise Asset Management empowers organizations to oversee the complete lifecycle of their physical business assets, aligning with financial and operational objectives. Enterprise Asset Management maximizes asset life and use with planned maintenance schedules and enables users to optimize asset inventory levels for improved balance sheet performance, minimizing stockouts and excess items. The asset lifecycle management capabilities you’re familiar with in Enterprise Asset Management are now embedded into ServiceNow ® OT Asset Management as a new solution to help organizations effectively manage the technology and equipment tied to their OT environments.
Operational Technology Asset Management (OTAM) empowers organizations to oversee and automate the full lifecycle of industrial assets with prescriptive workflows across functions. These asset types include:
- Operational technology (OT) assets: connected devices controlling machinery, often on industrial networks
- Operational equipment (OE) assets: machinery controlled by operational technology assets.
- IT hardware assets on industrial networks: IT assets supporting OT and OE assets
Note: OT Asset Management is a separately licensed product with capabilities specific to the above asset types. For physical business assets, continue to leverage Enterprise Asset Management.
In the Now Platform® Yokohama release, there are three key features for ServiceNow Operational Technology Asset Management:
- Unified OT workspace for industrial and hardware assets
- Firmware management
- Firmware content library and normalization
Unified OT workspace for industrial and hardware assets
Organizations lacking a unified workspace and workflow solution often results in inefficiencies, downtime risks, and limited visibility into the asset lifecycle, resulting in operational bottlenecks and increased costs.
ServiceNow’s unified OT workspace for industrial and hardware assets offers an innovative solution by providing a single integrated interface to manage industrial assets. This unified view boosts visibility and control over the entire asset lifecycle, reducing costs, informing decisions, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Firmware management
Users often struggle with managing firmware across diverse operational technology assets due to the complexity of handling different versions and ensuring security and compliance. A streamlined solution is essential for maintaining visibility and control over assets, reducing the risk to systems.
The firmware management module automates the ingestion of data from third-party discovery tools to identify devices and parse firmware models, providing users with a comprehensive view of their assets. By normalizing data with a curated content library, users can create actionable profiles for secure and compliant firmware management.
Firmware content library and normalization
The absence of a centralized system for creating and organizing custom firmware models can lead to inconsistencies in classification, grouping, and linking firmware to the appropriate codes and identifiers.
ServiceNow’s firmware content library and normalization provide users with the ability to create custom firmware models tailored to their OT assets. By assigning unique codes and linking firmware to identifiers, users can efficiently classify and organize firmware to reduce risks and operational disruptions in their OT environment.
