Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a project implementing Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) in ServiceNow.
The customer is migrating from an older asset management tool, but the ServiceNow setup is still in progress — specifically in the master data grooming phase, where we’re defining governance for data quality to ensure clean imports, consistent updates, and to avoid duplication when using the Bulk Import Tool.
The main challenge is that the customer’s data center facility is already operational, meaning there’s a fully installed asset environment at the facility level — just not yet captured in ServiceNow.
As the data center requires both scheduled and ad-hoc maintenance (e.g., work orders, work order tasks, and warranty-related activities), these activities are currently being logged in various ways outside of ServiceNow and not aligned with the EAM data model.
To ensure a proper historical baseline once ServiceNow is ready for Work Management setup, we’re looking at ways to populate maintenance history retroactively — covering past activities like maintenance tasks and warranty claims.
Has anyone here worked on importing historical maintenance data or designed an interim process (e.g., Excel-based tracking templates) to later feed into the Work Management tables once EAM is fully ready?
Any experience, tips, or examples would be greatly appreciated!
