We’re excited to announce the enhancements to Employee Center in February 2022 - spanning both the base Employee Center Package as well as the Employee Center Pro package. This blog post covers enhancements in the February store release that are compatible with the Rome family release.

Please, refer to our Employee Center release notesEmployee Center Pro release notes, and Content Publishing release notes for additional information and version numbers.

Provide contextual applications access on Employee Center

The typical employee has access to 30-50 applications and has limited capabilities on standalone SSO dashboards to find & access applications when they need them.  With the new App Launcher feature of Employee Center, employees will be able to access all of their applications directly from the Employee Center home page as well as in-context while browsing relevant topic pages e.g. accessing the payroll app from the ‘Compensation’ topic page.

App Launcher is pre-integrated with Azure AD to automatically retrieve the applications that users have access to, enables customers to integrate with other SSO providers and supports the addition of custom (non-SSO integrated) applications.

Once the list of applications has been populated, administrators will be able to tag applications to taxonomy topics for them to appear on the appropriate topic pages and configure AI Search to enable users to search for applications.

By configuring App Launcher, organizations can provide their employees a better application access experience while reducing (or even eliminating) the need for employees to use their standalone SSO dashboards.

This feature requires an Employee Center Pro entitlement. For additional details on this feature, see the App Launcher product docs

Assign owners for communications to topic pages

Content Experiences can be used to publish communications such as announcements & videos to topic pages. With the February release, this responsibility can be delegated, for example, the facilities team publishes to the Facilities topic page and the legal team publishes to the Legal topic page. Once an owner is assigned for communications on a topic page, no one else can publish content (individually or within a campaign) to that topic page.

This feature extends the Content Experiences and Content Publishing capability on Employee Center and is applicable only for customers with Employee Center Pro entitlement. For additional details, see Restrict content for Content Publishing and Content Experiences product docs.

Launch full portal preview while authoring communications

The Content Library experience (launched in November 2021) has been enhanced to enable content authors to preview their content in a full portal view while authoring their content. For example, a content author who is configuring an announcement for the home page (to be published via the Content Experiences Widget) can see how their new banner will render on the home page before they hit publish.
