Employee center latest version update

Hi All,

I have a basic query related to Employee Center update.

We have configured and customized few parts of employee center already.

We are migrated from Service Portal to Employee center, and configured to access Employee center with /sp URL.

Now I see some capabilities/options are missing in Employee center and I realized we are still with the version 25.0.5

But I see the latest version available in store as 28.0.4 and we are in Tokyo.

I want to update to latest version of employee center.

So want to know is there anything that I need to be aware of before update or after update to make sure my current configurations and customizations are not affected?

I'm new to ServiceNow and Employee Center. So kindly suggest.

Thanks,

Sagar

Hi @Pooja Gupta1   , @Dan O Connor ,

Can you please share the details.

We have already configured and customized most of the parts of Employee center.

We have created all the catalog items and associated with topics and sub topics. Taxonomy in place.

So I do not want to take any risk of anything breaking in the system before customer UAT.

Please confirm if no Fix script run is required and everything works like before after upgrade from version 25.0.5 to 28.0.4.

Currently we are in Tokyo , Employee center plugin version is 25.0.5 and I want to upgrade to 28.0.4.

Note: It's not Employee center Pro upgrade.

It's Employee center only just version update.

It would be a great help if you can confirm on this.

Thanks,

Hey @sagar_basu ,

So any update or upgrade should ideally be done in a controlled Route to Live process. What I mean by this is performing the upgrade on a sub-production environment, where testing and validation can take place.

Do you have access to a sub-production instance?

There are some code enhancements as part of the November and February plugin update. I don't know them specifically, as they arn't mentioned on the blog posts, but I know I've seen one of them. So if you are operating some customization etc. possible you might miss out on these.

Obviously it's very hard to validate with you any potential conflicts with an upgrade through community, so you would really need to perform the upgrade in a sub-prod environment to then validate and test to ensure all is OK with your customisations 🙂

@sagar_basu , Even I am looking for these details.

We have not cloned the taxonomy and added topics. But We have edited the OOB Employee taxonomy and added topics and sub topics under it.

Catalog items are also created under the same.

So I wanted to know if we update from 25.0.5 to 28.0.4 should we take acre of anything after update? Or there will be nothing to worry about and everything would work the same way since it is Employee center to Employee center version update and not PRO.

@Pooja Gupta1  can you please Suggest.

Thanks much

It is always advised to review and test upgrades or updates in a sub-production environment to ensure there is no conflict with any customization or changes you have in place 🙂
