[Employee Center] Rename the URL suffix /esc ?

Hi everyone,

On our instance, we use a CMS portal and we are migrating to Employee Center. We think about disable the CMS portal, redirection... and keep the same path /portal.

Do you think it is a good idea to rename the employee Center URL suffix to /portal instead of /esc .

I can see one impact on the module link but do know if it's the only one?

Thanks in advance

Christophe

Hi, i found out that not everything works when you use a different suffix for employee center. Example the new Employee profile didnt work for me.. when i used a different suffix. Maybe it is a bug? But things like dashboard, taxonomy etc. all will works.. as well if you clone ec pro standard pages.. example if you want EC Pro for IT, EC Pro for HR all seperate.. all works.. only Content view is pointing to one suffix.. and employee profile wont work

Hey @Community Alums

Changing the URL suffix in the Employee Center Portal record is a pretty normal feature in use. I know for the EC's I've built with customers I've put their preferred suffix in.

Obviously only you can make this decision and will know best if it's preferred to leave the OOTB suffix or if you want to give it a more appealing/relevant naming for your organisation.

There should be no issues that I am aware of, so any experienced should potentially be raised with support for them to document.

Is the impact you mention that you already have that suffix in use? Generally EC activation is either done big bang, or with some parallel for a while, but if moving from Service Portal it's normally not long before that portal is retired after a succesful EC launch 🙂

Hi Dan,

I wish you were right. I have played a loth of time on a clone EC pro.. but i didnt get the Employee profile link working. Everytime it went to the user profile page.. Although if i use the /esc prefix.. it was working. For me this sounds like there is a hardcoded prefix build in the code.

As  business representative, im unfortunately not have the option to raise this defect.. happy to tell my ServiceNow account manager about it if that helps.

Hi @Alexander17

I've never come across this. By default the ESC will call the id=hri_user_profile page, which is part of the ESC mapping. Do you have something custom happening here maybe causing this?
