Implement EC pro with a ESC portal still in use

For mature ServiceNow instances with 1 or more SP portals and 1 or more ESC portals heavily embedded in the organisation, there can be some challenges migrating to 1 unfied EC pro portal all at the same time, but we dont doubt that its the right thing to do.  We have been following the guidance from serviceNow to migrate to EC Pro, but found it needs to be done in stages in our organisation, for example we have HR on ESC portal and they cannot migrate to unified EC yet, but IT are ready to migrate from SP to EC pro right now.

Has there been any technical issues or known problems encountered maintaining a (legacy?) ESC portal for 1 dept alongside implementing EC pro portal for another dept?  So that HR using ESC can adopt EC when ready at a later date.  We would assume some of the content experience and functionality with mobile app and teams app should be considered, but not come across any clear technical blockers yet with this approach.

Has anyone been able to implement EC, but still have a ESC parralel in use for a limited period of time?

Hi David,

I have not seen customers using both EC pro and EC at the same time but looks like an interesting scenario.

EC especially EC pro more of Enterprise aligned portal and one more objective to avoid too many portals to provide a unified experience for end-users. 

 

As you said, it's for a limited time then still you still need to put a good amount of effort into build and maintaining two portals plus the experience won't be good and aligned with what SN product offers. 

Just thoughts, you can build the EC pro in sub-prod, limited departments users can do a dry run to make decisions rather than directly maintaining two live portals.
