I would like to understand advantages and dis-advantages; recommendation for different portals - Service Portal, Knowledge Portal, Employee Center, Employee Center Pro, Alumni Server portal. Which portal to use when and how easy or difficult is maintenance, security, coding, redundancy, performance, etc factors to consider when making desicion.

Hi, The traditional and best practice view is Service Portal. It covers the all including knowledge article. It's a common diaz you can bring the what you want based on your business requirement.

Now, the service now is recommending to use the Employee Center. It's an alternative of Service Portal. The main difference is functionalities. Even there is difference between Employee Center and Employee Center Proi.e., functionality wise.

The same point is discussed in other discussion as well. Please refer below link.

Can you also share points on when to use  Alumni Service portal?

Also the links you share is very minimal points on compare with Features. Can you also compare based on license, cost, performance, security, coding (low code)? Also if I create knowledge article how can I expose to Employee Center and Alumni portal both? Do I need to create 2 sets of article and maintain in both places or we can have common?

@Varsha Sharma

Alumni Service Center is for former employees.

Employee Center is included in the standard subscription but you need HRSD Professional subscription for Employee Center Pro. You should reach out to your Solutions Consultant for licensing and cost information. Employee Center is newer than Service Portal and like Suresh said, it is recommended by ServiceNow. You can read about the differences between Service Portal versus Employee Center application.

You should not need to create two articles, you should be able to use User Criteria in the Can Read or Cannot Read fields.

If I have helped with your issue please mark my response as helpful or correct.
