Topic banner images on Employee Center & AppEngine Studio

As per the knowledge article KB1443936 to get the banner of a newly created taxonomy topic displayed in the Employee Center portal, we need to add the topic into the widget options.

Currently we are looking into the citizen developer concept and with AppEngine Studio we can get one step closer to it given its simplicity and low-code needs. The issue is that for some of the apps we built we have certain record producers available in Employee Center PRO and  as well taxonomy topics are created for it.

This means that we still need to get a developer to add the new topics into the widget options using an update set. In the end the release of such app and associated topics can no longer be done using the regular app 'deployment' methods.

Anyone else going through the same and any solutions found so far?

Cheers!

Are you using the Taxonomy roles within Employee Center which allow certain roles manage topics in the taxonomy?

Taxonomy record lives in the Employee experience taxonomy scope. You do not need (and probably shouldn't) have topics broken out into other scopes. The taxonomy record and child topics should be in the same scope.

So for example when I am adding say App Engine applications into a customers taxonomy, it still goes into the Employee experience taxonomy scope when creating topics.

I mentioned the Taxonomy roles as Taxonomy has designs and the possibility to be managed directly in PROD. Connecting content, removing content, re-assigning content, adding images and quick links etc.

Mileage will vary based on your current process and if you want to keep it going through a DevOps process (which is fine and works) but I think the main issue here is you have taxonomy topics in different scopes, when they should be in the one.

Also not sure what you mean by getting a developer to add topics into the widget options. Topics render into our Mega Menu, topic pages and OOTB widgets dynamically so need no development or definition. The taxonomy roles are designed for non technical/developer  users.
