I want to hide the entire mega menu bar and bring the IT taxonomy in the header before My tasks, Is it possible?

Technically yes it's possible you have to deactivate Employee Center Navigation widget and also be required to customise the main menu widget.

I am not sure why would you want to degrade employee experience by deactivating the mega menu as it will demolish the whole purpose of having a next-level employee experience.

If you still want to do it then would suggest cloning the portal and building a custom portal.

I did this by hiding the Mega menu with CSS override and adding menu items that reflect the topics to the Employee Center Menu. Out of box, the menu will add the items to the "More" dropdown.


To add new items on the same level as My Task and My Requests, you'll have to customize or create the header menu. None of this is recommended. I eventually reverted the change. In the long term, the Mega Menu functionality will prove to be more beneficial. I recommend asking your stakeholders what business benefit will they gain from making this change? As you will lose so much by not leveraging the OOB functionality.
