when you impersonate a user to do fault finding is there a way to show the audit history against the system admin user that has done the impersonating and not against the user. I'm not sure this is possible but in an environment where security and privilege access needs to be controlled this must have been asked before

Impersonation's are logged in the system log. You can see who was impersonated and by who, and when the impersonation ended.
