Lets say we have a control objective to check all tripwire compliance and this control objective is mapped to multiple entities (for an example all windows servers entity type mapped to CMDB windows server). In this case, there will be hundres of control created for this control objective.
During an attestation, or Indicator Task, lets say some of the controls are becoming non-compliant. This will turns multiple issues generated and assigned to the control owner/asset owner.
In these kinds of situations, if we have configured a issue group rule by control owner, there will be one parent issue get created and all other issues will be marked as child issues. So, here the issue assignee has to work on only on one issue instead of all issues. Once he/she close the issue, servicenow will close all the issues accordingly.
