How is the Owner field on Policy typically used?

Hello,

I'm curious how you use the "Owner" field on Policies? Is it the person responsible for developing the policy (author), or the one who oversees it, essentially making sure controls are in place?  or both?

Hi @Michelle_lim

The owner is usually part of the functional environment considered for the policy.  As an example;

Finance Department

Financial manager is the owner for the policy "Payments & disbursements"

This individual is usually mandated (sometimes by the board of directors, sometimes by the nature of their position, or qualification) to determine the policy of the company and how the company will handle any payment and disbursements to staff, vendors, etc.

More complex policies may have contributors / reviewers & approvers as well.

The owner of the policy may from time to time decide to edit or to have edits made to the the policy and kick of the review and approval process again.

Hi @Michelle_lim ,

"Owner" field on Policies depicts the User that owns the policy.

This user is NOT responsible for making sure controls are in place.

Thank you, Sandeep. Follow up question... Do you have a more descriptive definition for what "owns" mean ?
