When the state of the policy exception request workflow reaches Approved, will the workflow automatically set the stage to closed when the valid to date of the exception record is reached?
Documentation on the exception request workflow is a little vague on ServiceNow's website regarding states and not sure whether or not a compliance manager needs to move the state to Closed in order to complete the workflow or leave the state as approved to run the SLA's.
Any clarification on this issue will be much appreciated. As of right now I'm assuming that the state of the record will automatically set the state to closed when the expiration date of the policy exception is reached.

Thomas is correct, OOB workflow enforces that. One can change the OOB workflow to support specific business needs.
