User's roles not removed when groups are removed

The user was removed from all associated groups but still shows that he has the roles that were inherited from his groups.   I've also tried going to the specific roles and editing the users listed but he doesn't show up in that list either.   The user's still with the company but has changed job title so no longer needs the access he had before, is there a safe way to remove these groups from his account?

              Try to clear the instance cache and see if it works out? your instance url/cache.do

Right click on the User in Roles related list and open in new window. Check that user are still in "sys_user_has_role" table.

I was able to delete roles individually by going to the view icon next to the checkbox and choosing delete.   I was afraid to just delete them from the list as I was worried it would replicate back and delete the role itself from the Roles list
