Auto Populating Scheduled Retirement field within hardware asset records

Hi,

We need all of our new hw asset records moving forward have their scheduled retirement field auto populated.  The process, as we understand it, would involve these steps, in order:

  1. Status field on a PO line item will manually change to RECEIVED (the assets are associated with purchase orders)
  2. The INSTALL date would populate on all assets (at the asset table level) associated with that PO, with the current date (date the status field changed to received) via business rule/script
  3. At the model level, the USEFUL LIFE (IN MONTHS) field would already be populated (at time of creation and manual input based on internal definition).
  4. A running business rule/script would auto populate the SCHEDULED RETIREMENT field on each of those asset records, calculated based off the installed date and useful life entries mentioned above.

We currently do not have the HAM module.

My question is twofold.  Does the HAM module have this built in, or would we need to create this automation on our own, regardless of whether we are running the HAM module?  And two, is the process as described above sound?  The purpose is to have reports built that show assets that will be scheduled to be replaced base off our internal useful life (in months).
