Outcome needed: create a generic hardware request item that will be able to be sourced from multiple actual hardware models.
Generic hardware request
The client is creating hardware items for the users to request based more on their role. E.g. apple laptop - business users (power user, etc). This is associate to the hardware model of apple laptop - business user. They order this catalog item.
Setup to Source Options to actual products
I can associate substitutes & compatibles which don't help me in the sourcing section. So I created vendor catalog items for the actual hardware products and linked them to the generic business user product catalog item. And when I look at the vendor catalog item, in the related list under vendor catalog items, I see all 3 products.
Order generic product & source
When I order this general catalog item, the requested item shows the generic item.
when I go to the catalog task to source the request, it only shows 1 item instead of the 3 vendor catalog items. One of the items tho has the rank tier of "Valued Partner" (Can't modify this). would that stop all 3 from showing up? Or is there another approach I should be using?
